APA 7 Formatting Basics
Title page, headings, in-text citations and reference list essentials.
APA 7 student papers need a title page, double spacing, a readable font, and page numbers. In-text citations use author and year, with a page number for direct quotes. Every in-text citation must have a matching reference entry, and every reference must be cited in the text. Headings are used in levels: Level 1 centred and bold, Level 2 flush left and bold, Level 3 flush left, bold and italic.
