How to Build a PICO(T) Question

A PICO(T) question breaks a clinical concern into parts so you can search for evidence efficiently. P is the population or problem, I is the intervention you are considering, C is the comparison (often current practice), O is the outcome you want to measure, and T is the timeframe. Write each part as a short phrase first, then combine them into one question. Use the words from each part as your database search terms, and widen or narrow them until the results match what you actually need.
